2021 Acquaintance McLaren Vale Shiraz
2021 Acquaintance McLaren Vale Shiraz
McLaren Vale, which borders the unique Hills region, has lower elevation and a Mediterranean climate, perfect for producing rich and powerful wines - an ideal “Acquaintance” to the elegant and refined Chain of Ponds style.
Blackcurrant, dark plums and black forest cake are entwined with subtle dried sage, vanilla and a hint of cured meats. The palate has balanced acidity, rich fruit, velvety structural tannins and a persistent savoury finish.
FOOD SUGGESTION: Chargrilled steak with wood oven roasted root vegetables. For a more peculiar pairing try our suggestion of the Pie Floater or meat pie.
CELLARING: 4-8 years
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 15-18 ̊C
ALCOHOL: 14.5%
AWARDS & ACCOLADES:
89/100; “Deep and intense ruby-red colour. Blackberry and dark chocolate aromas. The palate fills with ripe black fruits and chocolate spices. Good length and drive, with a firm grit of tannins controlling the fruit's enthusiasm. Will offer some cellaring rewards as well.” - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
